Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS): enables the construction of practically any metal alloy object. On the surface that will be printed, a very thin coating of metal powder is dispersed using direct metal laser sintering. DMLS's key benefit is that technique creates things free of internal flaws and residual stresses, which are crucial for metal parts subjected to high stress, such as aerospace or automotive components. Its main drawback is that it is quite expensive.

Selective Laser Melting (SLM): Using a high-power laser to completely melt each layer of metal powder, rather than just sintering, the resulting printed object is very dense and strong. Currently, this process can only be used for certain metals, such as stainless steel, tool steel, titanium, cobalt-chromium, and aluminum.

Electron Beam Melting (EBM): Very similar to selective laser melting, it produces dense metal structures. The difference between the two techniques is that EBM uses an electron beam instead of a laser to melt the metal powder. Currently, electron beam melting can only be used for a limited number of metals. Although cobalt-chromium alloys can also be used, titanium alloys are still the main raw material for this process. This technology is mainly used to manufacture parts for the aerospace industry.
