Concerning MJF Printing
First, a thin coating of powder is evenly distributed on the forming platform and heated until it approaches sintering. Spray the Fusing Agent on the powder using a carriage with inkjet nozzles (similar to those found in desktop conventional 2D printers). A high-powered infrared heat source lights the powder bed and sinters the places where the flux was sprayed, while the rest of the powder remains unaffected. At the same time, a detailing agent that prevents powder sintering is sprayed close to the edge of the component. Continue until all of the components are assembled.
HP provides a specialized post-processing station to help eliminate dust and hasten the cooling of the print bed while using MJF. The production of MJF 3D printed nylon 12 parts is more effective and less expensive because 80–85% of the recovered powder may be recycled.
Presentation and Surface Qualitative
The MJF 3D printing nylon 12 part has a light gray appearance that can be passed through an optional post-processing step to achieve a consistent black color Topcoat; all Parts have a grainy surface with a matte feel, but all can be post-processed to a high standard. The flux currently used in the MJF system is black because the dark material absorbs thermal radiation more effectively.
