SPANK INDUSTRIES is one of the few companies of the same scale in the world with a complete internal industrial chain, capable of independently designing, developing, and manufacturing unique mountain bike parts. Since 2002, it has been committed to the production of precision-machined gravity mountain bike components, insisting on setting up its own factory and producing products independently.

Although SPANK can now independently complete the entire process of design, development, and manufacturing in the factory, in the early days, their product development also faced many challenges.
Difficult prototype development phase, time-consuming and laborious, and risk of leaks
Before the introduction of 3D printing technology, SPANK used traditional machining equipment for prototyping, including Japanese 5-axis CNC machines, PCD tools provided by top German automotive suppliers, and Swiss-made fixtures. Although the production tools used are very advanced, there are still some problems in the production process: the programming process before machining is complicated and time-consuming, and every contour, every corner, and every line in the mechanical drawing needs to be programmed. In addition, cutting metal materials is very difficult and requires high technology. Therefore, the entire process of engineering is time-consuming and labor-intensive and is prone to waste.
In addition, because the internal design needs to be kept secret, SPANK cannot outsource prototyping to a third party, and can only produce it independently using traditional techniques. In order to optimize the product development process, SPANK also began to look for more flexible production tools.

3D printing integrated molding, saving time and effort
SPANK has a self-sufficient production model by purchasing 3D printing equipment. Avoid the risk of leakage. SPANK has many types of products. Due to the large number and variety of components, 3D printing technology can realize one-piece molding, which greatly saves assembly time. 3D printers can print multiple models at the same time, which helps them cut prototype verification cycles in half.

3D printing technology has brought convenience to many industries. JR has successfully provided 3D printing parts for automobiles, aerospace, medical, consumer electronics, industrial fields, etc. If you want to know more about our 3D printing services, please feel free to contact us.
